A Hard Days Night (1964)
A very different version of the music film offered in the same year, Director Richard Lester for all Beatles Fans. “A Hard Days Night” is a funny-surreal description of the alleged Band-everyday life of the Fab Four. Lester turned mad in 1965 with “Help!” another Beatles movie, and playful. Richard Lester’s Beatles movies have kept to this day – not only because of the music.

Director Philipp Kadelbach is now internationally a large number. “So much time” is a Film for the nostalgic. It tells the story of five former friends who were able to celebrate in the 1980s in the Ruhr area with her Band “Bochum stones” some triumphs. However, the success was rudely interrupted when guitarist Reiner (Jan Josef Liefers) raged during an appearance on the open stage against a member of the band Ole (Jürgen Vogel). Ole got injured hard. “Bochum stones” were now history.
The failed attempt of a comeback
30 years later, Reiner and Ole have no more contact. Pure, he is Kadelbach main protagonist in “So much time”, wants to take the Band to a Comeback. It is difficult enough to persuade the other three former cronies Bulle, Thomas and Konni (Armin Rohde, Richey Müller, Matthias bundschuh), so Pure at Ole bite on granite.
Jan Josef Liefers meets his ex-girlfriend (Jeanette Hain)
Ole is the only one of the five, has made something of his life: As a trendy Nerd in the German capital, he now leads a completely different life than his former friends. Pure, however, but also a COP, Thomas and Konni, more or less botched lives, both professionally and privately.

So far, So good: “So much time” is a feel good Movie with tragic undertones, played by an Ensemble of popular German Film and TV stars. The performances of the female Co-Stars, incidentally, are short and manageable (Laura Tonke, Jeanette Hain and others). Also, the guest appearance of the German rock band “Scorpions”, which may be with a few scenes and sentences.

As a template, Director Philipp Kadelbach on the eponymous novel of the Ruhr area served poets Frank Goosen. “So much time” is a Film for the nostalgic: German rock music and the Ruhr area, romance, friendship between crisis and awakening, botched existences and life – and music-comeback – these are the themes that the Film strikes. He does it with “the courage to be cartoon”, as put by a critic (of the North German broadcasting). One can agree with.
Whether you can be friends with the characters, must decide each of the cinema audience itself. It is certain, however: “So much time” relies on slapstick for psychological depth. Musically, So much time will satisfy only those who can do something with the rather brutish German rock music of those years.
