Summer fresh for Lovers

In the book his alter-Ego Wolfgang. It is a hot summer. Together with Claire, he escapes the big-city hustle and bustle with the steam railway, the beautiful river Rhine mountain. The following three days, you do all the things Lovers do so – they languish, wasting the best hours in the nature, tease and can’t leave each other.

“They were executed in the Sonnenglast, on a Meadow, through which the air in the lunch floated heat shaky. Silence…”

Even today, pilgrims fell in love with fresh to the castle of Rheinsberg in Brandenburg. There is also the Kurt Tucholsky literature Museum is located today.

The trip of an unmarried couple applies at the time as unseemly. So, the Lovers use the cover name “couple Gambetta”. You put a Smile on the morals of the time. The book was Tucholsky’s answer to the prudery of the Wilhelmine bourgeoisie.Countless publishers have the manuscript rejected. In the end, his book was nevertheless a huge success.

Shimmering Lightness

“A picture book for Lovers” called Tucholsky its history. In fact – there is no classical arc of tension. Rather picturesque snapshots of rows of lots, of comments kept by the offhand sayings, and iron. Wolfie explains to his beloved the world, and Clärchen with your loose mouth fun of him. Everything in this book is light as a feather – the love of the nature.

“The horizon flickered in dazzling white. It was a beauty, this landscape? No – because groups of trees were nothing awarded, the Land was wavy in the distance, hidden in a grove of trees and showed a different man rejoiced, that basically everything was there.”

Kurt Tucholsky wrote, “Rheinberg” one of the most beautiful love stories of the German literature. Its shimmering lightness fascinated that, even after 100 years. Still today you can see in Rheinberg couples over gravel paths to stroll – with a Tucholsky-output under the Arm.
