Speyer Cathedral – world heritage site and memorial site

The Cathedral of St. Maria and St. Stephan’s is the largest preserved Romanesque Church. Here, service on the 1 is with a sadness. July, the late former Chancellor Helmut Kohl acknowledged.

World Heritage: Speyer Cathedral

Already in 1981, the Cathedral was included in the Unesco list of world cultural heritage – as the second building in Germany, according to the Aachen Cathedral. With the registration in the world heritage list, the UN cultural organization, paid tribute to the towers of the Speyer Cathedral, with its four striking as a “major work of Romanesque architecture in Germany”.

Grave of Helmut Kohl will be open to the public

Following the funeral service a “military farewell will take place in front of the Cathedral ceremony with guard of honour”. After that, the on 16. June deceased, Helmut Kohl, at the Church of peace Saint Bernhard to his last resting place. Cabbage is buried at his own request, on the local cemetery of the Cathedral Chapter.

Today, the Park bears the name of the first Federal Chancellor, Konrad Adenauer (CDU), was for almost four centuries-the cemetery of the city.
