He was one of the most performed authors on German stages and has enriched the contemporary theatre like no other. With 91 years of multiple award-winning author Tankred Dorst is dead now.
Peter Zadek staged particularly fond of pieces of the 1925-born Thüringers. But other prominent Directors of the handles on the text Dorsts back, and brought it to the stage, including Peter Palitzsch, Dieter Dorn or Heinz new rock.
Especially as a writer for the stage, known writer processed in his plays, and like the mythical and historical materials – linked but with allusions to current social and political Subjects.
Among his best-known pieces of Merlin or the waste Land” (1981) and “Great” (1968)”. Dorst also wrote templates for-TV movies, and Librettos for the musical stage. In 2006, staged Dorst as a Director, a revision of Richard Wagner’s “Ring” in Bayreuth.
