ABN Amro has with IBM miljardencontract closed. IBM is going in the next ten years hardware and software to deliver ‘banking in the cloud’ for ABN Amro. ABN Amro wants to use the new platform to save costs.
The contract that the two parties locks would have a value of “several billion dollars” according to IBM, but a precise indication of want the it company not give. According to the agreement, IBM’s cloud infrastructure building for ABN Amro and existing it processes to standardize and simplify. For this infrastructure to build IBM provides to its own say among other mainframes, servers, storage, application support and client systems, as well as a helpdesk for the support.
ABN Amro announced two weeks ago that up to 2018, approximately 650 to 1000 jobs will be deleted, primarily due to the closing of bank branches. The bank says that its customers are increasingly using internet for their banking and that the number of visitors at the offices continue to decline.
