The XBMC Foundation, responsible for the development of the XBMC-mediaspelersoftware, eBay takedown requests filed. It is going to be advertisers for XBMC capable hardware advertise with prescribed lwa installed add-ons that give you access to illegal content.
On eBay are thousands of ads to find which XBMC media players are touted as standard of add-ons to include illegal movies, tv series and sports channels. It turns out that that against the sore leg of the XBMC Foundation, reports TorrentFreak. The organization behind the XBMC-mediaspelersoftware at eBay requests have been submitted to such ads the auction site to remove.
According to the XBMC Foundation violate advertisers the trademarks of XBMC by the software by default, with ‘illegal’ add-ons. The organization focuses not on the makers of these add-ons, because it has no trademark rights violation and the organization says neutral to want to remain in the public debate about piracy. Companies may also XBMC versions with ‘pirates’ add-ons’ offering as the open-source software under a different name. This is possible because the open-source software is freely available on the basis of a gpl v2 license.
Ebay would now ads have been removed. Nevertheless, it teaches a simple search that on eBay are still plenty of providers that XBMC installations on mostly Android-media players-sell with add-ons and third-party pre-installed. It is unclear, therefore, whether the takedown requests effect. The XBMC Foundation has announced that it is also the brand name of Kodi, that for the next XBMC version will be used, will actively protect.
