SIDN examine use .bv for Dutch companies

Together with the Norwegian registry, which is the .bv-top-level-domain manages, investigates the SIDN or the domain can be used by Dutch companies. At this moment it is not possible to .bv-to register domain names.

The SIDN is the next time ‘examine’ or the extension enough value, so let the organization know. After that still need to be agreed with the Norwegian registry Norid, the .bv-domain to manage. The .bv-domain is intended for Bouvet island, an island in the Atlantic ocean, under Norway.

At this moment it is not possible to .bv-domain to register, but Norid claims that the regular requests from companies for such a domain. This would be the SIDN, the technical management of the top-level-domain. Probably can only bv’s one .bv-domain name register. What that is going to cost, spokeswoman Marnie van Duijnhoven of SIDN, not yet.

One of the possibilities that the SIDN shall examine, is that the .bv-tld a platform for ‘validated data’. “Especially for small businesses, it is difficult to prove that they are a reliable authority,” said spokeswoman Duijnhoven. “The idea is for them to to their .bv website to refer to.” How that exactly should look like, is still not clear.

Incidentally, do the SIDN no resistance from the local Bouvetaanse population to expect: although the snowy island, a private domeinextensie, it is uninhabited.
