BlackBerry has a smartphone with a square screen and physical touch sensitive keyboard presented. The Passport comes in this week from Germany and France. The company said for months openly about the different smartphone.

BlackBerry releases the Passport in Germany and France for 649 euro. About a release in the Netherlands is officially still nothing known. The BlackBerry 10 smartphone has a square screen with a diagonal of 4.5″ and a resolution of 1440×1440 pixels, in which there are around 450 pixels per inch, slightly higher than 5″phones with full hd screens. Underneath that there is a physical keyboard that users can use as a kind of trackpad; it can touch to register. BlackBerry used inter alia for control via gestures, like a swipe from right to left on a word to remove it.

The Passport has a square screen to Excel files, and presentations to view. BlackBerry fit the square screen earlier, though in much smaller form on his BlackBerry 10 models with a physical keyboard like the Q10 and Q5.

The device runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801-soc, with four Krait cores at 2.3 Ghz and an Adreno 330 gpu, assisted by a ram with a size of 3GB. The phone measure 13x9cm and is 9,3 mm thick; it weighs more than 190 grams. The camera has a resolution of up to 13 megapixels and has optical image stabilization.

The smartphone costs in France and Germany 649 euro. When the release in the Netherlands takes place, is unknown. Director John Chen revealed the Passport for the first time in June.
