Asus announces G551 and G771-gaming laptops to

Asus has a new 15,6″ and 17,3″notebooks in its Republic of Gamer series announced. The manufacturer is the G551 and G771-models with aluminium housing of the GeForce GTX 860M cards and Core i7 quadcores rest.

The G551 Asus looks very similar to the G550 but has a slightly minimaler housing. The G771 is very different from the other G750-laptop, Asus’ ROG series and has not the stealth design of that model, with lots of corners and the large fan openings on the back, but a simple and sleek chassis. The laptops have a housing made of aluminum and are black with red accents and backlit for the keyboard.

The G551 is on the thinnest point 28mm thick and the thickest 31.5 mm, at a weight of 2.7 pounds. The G771 is connected respectively to 30.4 and to 35.6 mm is a lot thicker and also the weight is higher: 3,4 kilos.

Under the hood place Asus Core i7-4710HQ or the Core i5-4200H, in combination with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M with 2GB or 4GB gddr5. Both laptops come in variants with ips panel and up to the full-hd resolution, but there will also be models with lesser schermspecificaties. The laptops can be up to 16GB ddr3 memory and what storage is concerned, there are various options, including a 1.5 TB hdd storage, hdd storage with additional ssd cache of 24GB and ssd with a maximum capacity of 256GB. The G771 can also have pci-e ssd’s up to 512GB.

There is a mini-displayport and hdmi 1.4 for connection to up to three external screens. Support for wi-fi-ac is not there: the support is stuck on wifi-n. The prices and availability should Asus yet disclose.
