Screen manufacturer AOC says a new technology to have developed that ‘harmful’ blue light, from screens with led backlight, up to ninety per cent. It would be permanent eye damage should occur.
There would, according to AOC, studies are showing that prolonged exposure to blue light can lead to macular degeneration. That is an eye disorder in which the visual acuity decreases by the death of cells in the central portion of the retina. The eyesight is permanently damaged. AOC is referring to in the message, that Softpedia has fully placed, to professor Carl Kupfer. He predicts that the macular degeneration in the future, an outbreak could be. It is not known whether the conclusion of the research in peer-reviewing is examined.
Screens with led-backlight make use of diodes that are light emitting the display light. The monitors give a blue light with a short wavelength, that would be harmful to the eyes. It is compared to the uv light that the sun emits. AOC claims that the ‘Anti-Blue Light” technology, up to ninety percent of the harmful rays block. The company introduces according to MaximumPC the system in the AOC 76V series.
The technique would have no consequences for the schermprestaties. In comparison with other techniques this technology, the colours do not dim or distort. The original color and brightness would be preserved. This is achieved by a new technology, which is the wavelength of the light-emitting diodes would shift from 450nm to 460nm. The harmful wavelength is outside the range.
