The developers behind XBMC have the cross-mediacentersoftware a new name given. The software is called version 14 Kodi. Wish the developers especially the tires with the original name, Xbox Media Center, final disconnect.
Currently it is just a name change, write the developers Friday in a blog post. “The software remains the same, and the code remains available under the GPL 2.0 license”, they explain. In addition, the original numbering is retained. This means that Kodi continue where XBMC 13 remained and so version 14, added.
According to the team behind the mediacentersoftware is the motivation behind the name change is twofold. First of all, they want all ties break with the Xbox, which the software in 2002, it was originally written. This happened for the last few years, carefully; the last project name, XBMC, was taken into use, because the popular media player in 2008 on multiple platforms turned.

After deliberation, the team decided that it’s better to have the mediacentersoftware a completely new name to give, so in one fell swoop, all problems. “Renaming the software was the most realistic solution. We have done it before and believe that this time Kodi is the name that we always maintain.” Kodi 14 is expected to be in december.
