Research: around million people watching Netflix

In the Netherlands the number of Netflix viewers in the second quarter rose to 7 percent, reports Telecompaper on the basis of its own research among consumers. This would make the number of viewers come out around a million.

In the fourth quarter of 2013 looked at 4 percent of the surveyed consumers to movies and series on Netflix. This number increased to 7 percent in the second quarter of 2014, writes Telecompaper based on a sample within its Consumer Panel. This seems to be the price of a euro that Netflix in may checked in for new subscribers, that the price comes out at € 9 per month, to have had little impact on the growing number of viewers. Netflix also benefits from a growing brand recognition: in the last quarter, 86% of the vod-service, compared with 71 percent in the second quarter of last year.

Competitors like Pathé Thuis and Videoland Unlimited, and will remain on Netflix. Pathé at Home, that only loose movies and tv series, rent, or sell, saw its market share remain stable at 3 percent, already has the brand recognition increased from 70 percent to 82 percent. In the second quarter of this year, 1 percent of the Dutch betaalabonnement on the unlimited streaming service Videoland Unlimited. Approximately 2 percent indicated sometimes a movie or tv series to take off in Videoland.

Netflix content by 40 percent in the most viewed on a laptop, followed by 37 percent who have a television on which a notebook, Chromecast-stick or console is connected. In addition, 31 percent prefer a tablet or smart-tv. Pathé Home is mostly through a smart tv viewed.

The use of video-on-demand services have been around for some time shows a rising line. Thus, in June from a GfK study that a third of Dutch people, such services are used, in particular all-you-can-eat subscriptions are popular. In people between 18 and 34 years old, is the percentage that makes use of vod services is the highest; 45 percent of that group says use. Now is also EN See, a vod service of the public and commercial broadcasters, in the air.
