Police City of London warns on piraterijsites via ad space

The City of London Police has begun with the show of piraterijwaarschuwingen on websites for the illegal distribution of music and films on the place where ads appear on those sites. The warning calls on the browser page to close.

The warnings come in place of paid ads on the sites, and the step is part of Operation Creative, the City of London Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit. The use of the advertising space is crucial in the fight against piracy via internet, says a spokesperson told the BBC. According to him, earn piraterijsites large amounts of money with advertisements and provide banners of well-known brands of the sites the appearance of legitimacy. The City of London Police is the police organization of the business district of London, independently of the Metropolitan Police Service, responsible for the rest of London. Reportedly, the City of London Corporation warm ties with multinational companies and banks.

The police makes use of technology of the company Project Sunblock. Big brands are continuing the services of this company in order to prevent their ads end up on sites with dubious or illegal content. Banners are often served by large networks, where brands no visibility on what sites they reach. Project Sunblock are watching, however, the sites and once a page on the Infringing Websites List of the police of London, the warning message in place of ads is shown. This earn the sites no money. This black list was at the end of april announced. It is not known which sites on the list.
