Apple has an app approved that allows torrents to a iOS device can be downloaded. The app however has a major limitation: it is only possible to transfer files from certain legal sources to download.

The app, Blue Downloader, which recently launched in the App Store appeared, makes it possible to torrents from sites like The Pirate Bay and Kickass Torrents to download. However, some other BitTorrent sites such as Bitlove, Linuxtracker and Archive.org where only legal content is to find, supported.

The app in its description and in its application name aware, no mention of the support for the bittorrent protocol. Developer Harrison Tyler said in an interview with TorrentFreak that he decided to use the functionality of the app to reduce it, because he expected that Apple’s app otherwise, would not approve. “I’m usually not restrictions,” he says.

Apple is normally no bittorrent apps in the App Store, because that illegal downloading would facilitate, despite the fact that the protocol also is used for spreading, for example, open-source software. In 2010, an application was approved which made it possible for torrents to add to the torrentdienst of Imageshack, but that app is now no longer available.
