The iOS version of VLC will support Chromecast. Developers say there is currently busy doing. Also there are desktop versions for Windows, Mac and Linux in the pipeline.

There is, according to him, more time to sit down, because those programs ‘slightly harder’ to make. So Google has no sdk released. This means that the VLC team needs to work with reverse engineering or VLC should work with the Chrome browser.
