‘European companies have great difficulty in making Linux specialists to find’

Companies in Europe are experiencing a lot of trouble for it staff to find the required Linux knowledge. Especially system administrators and developers are being sought, reports The Linux Foundation on the basis of research.

The Linux Foundation, a non-profit organisation which aims to run Linux and promote the development of it to speed up, held a survey among people within a company are responsible for the adoption of it and Linux professionals. According to the organization, looking for 87 percent of the European companies is expected to be within a period of one year to the Linux-specialists, with 48 percent indicating that they are within six months more staff with Linux knowledge want to attract.

A problem would be the availability; 93 percent of European companies would have a hard time finding qualified personnel. By vacancies would be 25 percent of the 177 surveyed firm’s projects have had to slow down. System administrators and developers are the most in vogue, but companies are also looking for devops personnel, and managers for it departments.

Among the surveyed Linux specialists indicates 70 percent of that in the last six months by more and more companies are being approached. Also gives a third to looking to want to go to a new function, in which a small majority thinks that this little effort will cost. For 69 percent would be a move mainly motivated by a higher salary, but there is also looked at better working conditions, and training opportunities.
