The CIA has officially lwa le accounts open on Facebook and Twitter. The aim of the service is to say that more openness about his missions, was director John Brennan known.

The CIA placed Friday evening, the first message on Twitter. In the tweet jokes in the service, that the CIA ‘cannot confirm nor deny that this is the first tweet was’.

In a statement, ” says director John Brennan that the CIA’s accessing of the social media channels more openness and direct contact with the audience. “We have important insights to share and we want to stress that the unclassified information about the agency is more accessible to the American public,” he writes.

It is not known why the CIA right now in the Twitter and Facebookaccounts is started, but may be it has something to do with the revelations of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, after that a lot of criticism arose on the actions of secret services. Perhaps the CIA partly to the criticism, responding by using social media, more openness.

Incidentally, it is not the first time that a secret service are matters of ‘public’ on social media. The Dutch AIVD has, for example, already a twitter account which regularly insights are provided. In addition, the CIA is already on the official Flickr and YouTube accounts.
