The system, Be-Alert, that the Belgian Ministry of Home Affairs currently in 33 municipalities test from next year country are employable. That, says the ministry. The netherlands already have such a system.

The Belgian government wants the system to deploy in case of an emergency, such as a gas leak or drinking water contamination. The system is at the earliest next year nationwide, writes The Standard.

The Belgian Be-Alert is different in design from the Netherlands NL-Alert, which is already in use. Be-Alert can warn people with a regular sms text message, a voice message, e-mail or fax. In addition, the system operates initially on enrollment; only those who sign up on the site, will be notified. The test runs in 33 municipalities. The Dutch system requires no login and is also working on a separate emergency channel on mobile networks instead of via regular sms. The options for emergency messages by voice message, e-mail or fax is missing in the Netherlands.

Be-Alert seems to be in the future a possibility to get to the emergency channel to use. The Belgian initiative of the crisis centre, which is under the Ministry of Interior.
