Vodafone makes from Tuesday, its 4g network also available for prepaid and Hybrid customers. These customers may, provided they have a device with 4g support, monthly choose whether they want to have access to the 4g network.

That has the provider published on its site. Previously, only customers with a subscription to make use of 4g. The 4g bundles are used in conjunction with the standard data bundle. For prepaid customers costs a bundle of five euros per month and Hybrid-customers have to pay 2,50 euro per month. After the default data bundle is depleted, it switches the client back to the 3g network of the provider.

The 4g speeds for prepaid and Hybrid customers amounts up to 25Mbit/s download and 12.5 Mbit/s for the upload. Prepaid and Hybrid customers in germany and abroad make use of 4g. The download speed of 4g with a subscription from Vodafone is currently at 50Mbit/s. The new 4g bundles for prepaid and Hybrid customers can be activated via the special 4g-page, on the site of Vodafone.

The roll-out of Vodafone’s 4g network is significantly faster than the company had originally estimated. The provider recently announced that in september about rural 4g coverage will include, over six months earlier than planned. Reason for this could be the mild winter, allowing technicians during the winter could be with the placement of 4g towers. Vodafone claims at the moment so about 900,000 customers who use 4g. That number should be at the end of 2015 and doubled.
