Synology has the DS414slim announced, a compact nas with four drive bays in which 2,5″hard drives or ssds can be placed. The nas features two usb 3.0 ports and two gigabit ethernet ports.
According to Synology can hold up to 6TB of gross storage capacity be made available on the DS414slim by four 1,5 TB 2,5″hard disks in the nas to slide. Internally, it is a Marvell Armada 370, an ARMv7 soc that is clocked at 1.2 GHz. Additionally, the DS414slim to make do with 512MB ram.
The two lan ports of the nas support link aggregation to merge the ethernet and fault management via fail-over. Furthermore, the DS414slim two usb 3.0 connectors. Synology specifies the read and write speeds, respectively, at 111MB/s and 55MB/s.
Synology leave the nas running on DSM 5.0, the latest release of its firmware. Further claims of the manufacturer that the 60mm-ventiator is easy to replace. According to Synology verstookt the nas with average use 15,5 W. The DS414slim is available immediately and has a suggested retail price of 220 euros.
