Attachments of e-mails that are sent from an iPhone that is on iOS 7 running, are not encrypted. That claims a German researcher. Apple says on its website that all attachments of mails properly protected.

In are test configured Kurtz first a imap account on an iPhone 4, so he has some testmails and attachments. Then he switched the phone off, and granted himself access to the data of the phone. There he found the attachments of the testmails to as plain text.

The attachments were available in plain text in iOS 7.0.4, 7.1, and also the most recent version 7.1.1. Kurtz also knows that although his original tests done with an iPhone 4, he’s the same result I got it after a number of tests with an iPhone 5s and iPad 2 running on iOS 7.0.4 turned. On the Apple website state that attachments of e-mails are encrypted and stored on the iPhone 3GS and all newer Apple products. When Kurtz to Apple stepped in with his discoveries, proved that the company is already aware of the problem. Apple had Kurtz not know when the problem will be resolved.
