Government contributes code to open-source software Apache

The Dutch government has by Logius to own say an active contribution to the development of Apache CXF, a servicesframework that is especially useful for the exchange of information.

The contribution to Apache CXF is in command of Logius, the ict service of the national Government, carried out by Sosnoski Software Associates. According to the central Government with the delivery of the code to Apache is made suitable for the use of WSRM, a protocol for exchanging messages.

Many organizations in the Netherlands and abroad make use of WSRM 1.2, but Apache supported this yet. The Government used WSRM in particular for Digikoppeling, a system for information between administrations to exchange. The arrival of Apache support was also very desirable.

According to the government code, which is entirely open source is not only important for public authorities, but also for companies within and outside the Netherlands. For example, the software can be used for Peppol, an eu project for the development of a procurement system.
