HTC hint that the next generation of smartphones, next year, optical zoom supports. That says a camera expert of the manufacturer in an interview. HTC claims that smartphones eventually dslr’s possible in many cases to replace.

HTC hint on the installation of optical zoom in phones within a year and a half come true. The arrival is from an interview of provider Vodafone with Symon Whitehorn, HTC’s imaging specialist. “Optical zoom is not so far away for HTC,” he says, “I can’t too much to give away, but optics in smartphones will coming twelve to eighteen months improve significantly. Therefore, we do not believe necessarily in a solution with high resolution photos to enlarge.”

The manufacturer used since last year in its most expensive models, a ‘Ultrapixel-camera, with less pixels that are individually larger. In his latest phone One (M8) in addition, there is a second sensor for depth information, for example, to post the background to blurren.

Cameramakers will also collaborate with handset manufacturers, expects to Symon. “The camera industry does not have total feeling threatened. What we will see is that these things go better together.”

The camera expert of HTC expects smartphones within a few years the function of the dslr’s can largely take over. “Two years ago I had said that smartphones never be a dslr replacement, but now I’m not so sure anymore. I think that there is always a role remains for dslr’s, such as for sports photography and stuff, but you will make the hole smaller. These cameras are by necessity more specialized, they can have the intelligence that we have in smartphones do not stop match.”
