Microsoft puts search for buried copies of E. T. for Atari 2600

Microsoft put a search in to the buried load of copies of E. T. for the Atari 2600. The company makes a documentary of the quest to the game that for many was responsible for the recession in the game industry in the ’80s.

Microsoft is working with the companies of Fuel and Lightbox at the excavation site, which takes place at an old garbage dump outside of Almagordo, in the U.s. state of New Mexico. According to persistent rumors in the world of games would be Atari that large amounts of residual E. T. cartridges for the Atari 2600 buried after the game commercially flopped. The game is known as one of the worst games of all time, and it is, moreover, seen as the reason for the North American videospelrecessie. After long debates with the local environmental authorities, the companies have now the green light for the excavation.

The dump since the late 80’s out of use and contains, among other materials that can be harmful to the health after long term exposure, so reports the Almagordo News. That would also be the reason for the delay of the construction works, local authorities demanded that the excavation work will only be carried out by certified companies. Xbox Entertainment Studios to create a documentary series about the videogame industry and the first episode will be about the videogamerecessie of the ’80s. Director of the documentary series is Zack Penn, who in the past has worked as a writer for multiple X-Men movies and The Avengers.
