Carriers want to make it possible to travel with an ov-chipkaart afterwards to pay. This would allow passengers not direct the high ‘tariff’ pay if they forget to check-out. Yet it goes to a trial with the Rotterdam-based carrier RET.
In the new system, the cost for all trips at the end of the month in a time of the account, instead of directly per trip. This system is called post-Pay Consumer, says RET.
The new system shows the invoice where and when consumers forget to check-out and travelers can have the money directly back. That’s why it’s not their account. Condition is that users know in time that they forget that they are to check out.
Post-Pay Consumer is a variant of the ov-chip card in which a card is linked to a bank account. The current system still works with balance; when the balance is negative, transfer the system will automatically balance from the bank account. Business ov-chipkaart can work with payment afterwards.
The Rotterdam-based carrier RET enter the new system as first in trial, later, other carriers follow. RET begins with one hundred customers, and for a period of six months, each month one hundred customers.
