Google will stop its news app Currents. An update of the app blocks the use of the app. Instead, it directs Google users to the kiosk section of its own Play Store. Currents was only slightly less than a year in the Netherlands.

Currents is an app where users can subscribe to feeds from news sites and then be able to read, but with an update that Google Wednesday night released, the app has become unusable, say users. The app no longer works and Google directs users to its own service Play Newsstand.

Users lose their data is not: because users log in with their Google account, can Play Kiosk info about feeds take control of Currents. Both apps are designed about the same, but Play Newsstand is connected to Googles Play Store and therefore has an easy ability to pay.

Currents since december 2012 active in the Netherlands and Belgium and the Dutch version has been working since almost a year. Google set the app since 2012 in the standard firmwares for Nexus devices and the app is also available for iOS.
