Ziggo claims that its app in an update custom to videos to play on many cheap Android tablets. Also has hardware acceleration built in, which makes on more expensive tablets, videos with higher resolutions can be played.
The improvements are in version 3.2.1 of Ziggo TV for Android. Ziggo claims that with the update the app also works on cheap tablets that users at chemists buy. That comes with a new player, thus saith the kabelaar. That player is made by NXP. Ziggo wants to provide any guarantees that the app on all tablets works. “We will test it as much as possible devices, but it is impossible for all Android devices and versions of such test.”
The player also supports hardware acceleration on a lot of tablets, which look in higher resolutions. That does not work on all tablets: users of the Xperia Tablet Z complain last hours in the Play Store that the app no longer works.
Ziggo makes it possible to use the app under the more to watch live tv on smartphones and tablets. That may not be available on all devices. The app has a “root-control” and users who have root access on their phone, can the app still not use.
