YouTube adds 2160p-procedure of choice for uhd content to video player

YouTube has quietly become an option to its video player added, if available, 4k resolutions for video clips to choose from. Up until now, the user mostly rely on descriptions such as ‘4k’ or ‘uhd’ in the title or description of a clip.

It’s been since mid-2010 possible to capture videos in 4k resolution to upload to YouTube. To get the higher resolutions to make it clear to the viewer was the uploader themselves in the title or description to indicate that it is a uhd-clip; in the checkbox for resolutions in the video player was above the hd 1080p option only to the resolution of ‘original’ is shown.
