Ubuntu gets a new ‘smart scope’ by default, a search for bittorrent downloads in the Dash interface. It is unclear yet, or the search function in the upcoming Ubuntu 14.04 LTS will be available.

Developer David Callé late at TorrentFreak know that the smart scope, a search function in the Unity interface of Ubuntu, it may be available in the Dash search options of the open source operating system. This would make the search function in the upcoming Ubuntu 14.04 LTS release from Canonical. By default it should be the search function, make use of The Pirate Bay as a source.

According to the developer, the search for torrents within Ubuntu easily explainable. So would many iso images of various Linux distributions via the p2p protocol efficiently can be spread. In addition, it would be the smart scope simply can be extended with lots of other bittorrent search engines and websites.

It is unclear yet whether Canonical the results of the new ‘torrentscope’ will filter. The search functionality of the Dash interface within the Unity interface already provides many search facilities, among others, on sites like YouTube and Wikipedia.
