KPN fined eur 30 million for harm to competitors

The Authority Consumer and Market, where since last year the OPTA fall, KPN has a penalty of 30 million euros. The company would competitors have been harmed in a procurement procedure by the government.

The fine of 30 million euros, is distributed as KPN’s competitors had been harmed by tariff formation to keep back. KPN must as a monopolist to its competitors under the same terms and conditions to provide access to its fixed network, which means that the provider to a tendering procedure, the rates that it charges on time to its competitors.

That did not happen: according to the Authority Consumer and Market loved KPN in a call for tender for fixed telephony for the government at a ‘crucial moment’ information it is meant to share. Due to KPN, the information is not shared, the competitors, the lower rates are not more of them in the tendering procedure. The fine is actually already at the end of 2011 distributed, but the amount should not yet be published. KPN is subject to appeal.

KPN gets more fines for distortion of competition; last year worth almost a million euro. “This is not the first time that KPN such a violation commits”, says the chairman of the ACM, Chris Fonteijn. “Therefore, we have KPN not only fined but was also subject to enhanced scrutiny.”
