Archos announces its first 4g smartphones to

Archos has made its first two 4g smartphones announced. The 45 Helium and 50 Helium run both on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400-soc and Android 4.3 on board. The phones also seem to come to Holland.

The smartphones are also published on the Dutch site of Archos, which makes it obvious that the manufacturer of the aircraft also on the Dutch market as well as abroad. The 50 Helium will have a suggested retail price of 249 euro and has an ips-lcd with a diagonal screen size of 5 inch and resolution of 1280×720 pixels. The 199 euro-dollar 45 Helium has a 4.5″screen with a resolution of 854×480 pixels.

Both phones run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400-soc, with four Cortex A7 processor cores at 1.4 GHz and an Adreno 305 gpu at 450MHz. Both devices also have a memory with a size of 1GB. It comes to ddr3 memory at 600MHz. Thanks to the baseband in the soc working the smartphones with dual-carrier 3g with a maximum speed of 42Mbit/s and 4g in the Netherlands usual frequencies with a maximum speed of 150Mbit/s; in the Netherlands, the speed limit on subscriptions, however 50Mbit/s.

The storage memory is different, however: the cheaper 45 Helium has a storage memory with a size of 4GB, while the 50 Helium 8GB. Of course, there are different sizes: the 50 Helium is 14,5×7,1cm wide and 9mm thick, while the 45 Helium 13,5×6,8cm high and a 9.8 mm thick. The images of Archos devices the exact same design, but because the thickness is different will be one of the devices different to the product images of Archos. When the devices come out, Archos is still not published.

Now there is a device with a suggested retail price of under 200 euro 4g support, indicates that other manufacturers, the price of 4g devices will also quickly go down, partly driven by the demand of providers and the availability of cheaper socs with 4g, such as those from Qualcomm. It is still unclear as to how cheap the entry-level models with 4g are going to be.
