Survey: majority of web shops is also considering physical store

More than two-thirds of the shops in the Netherlands has, according to a nationwide investigation into the vestigingsbehoeften of shops interested in a physical store. In addition, this year a record sales of 10 billion euros have been achieved with webverkopen.

In a study of the Hogeschool van Amsterdam and Seinpost Adviesbureau, commissioned by the Dutch board for craft Retail and the Chamber of Commerce, are 350 companies with a webshop questioned. Therein is particularly requested to the any vestigingsbehoeften of these companies. According to the researchers, one in five respondents already use a combination of online and off-line sales attempts. It was a own physical store interesting for 15 percent, while 8 percent opt for the shop-in-shop concept.

In total, this gives two-thirds to under the right conditions, however, to have an interest in a physical store. Especially web stores that not have a ‘bricks and mortar’ shop, would be interested, while a third is still online will continue to sell. Despite the interest in physical stores, online sales in the Netherlands are still increasing.
