Alliance with Samsung and Qualcomm calls draadloosladen-standard Rezence

The grouping of companies with, among others, Samsung and Qualcomm that is a standard for wireless charging via magnetic resonance, has the final name is revealed. On products with that technology comes Rezence.

The standard was first WiPower but the name on products face is so Rezence, with a logo that is a Z displays in a battery. Rezence have to compete against Qi, the standard for wireless charging in the Nexus 5 and several Nokia Lumia devices.

The name Rezence is a portmanteau of the English words resonance and essence. The standard is backed by companies such as Qualcomm, Samsung, LG and HTC. Or all those companies, the standard use is unclear, but Samsung was recently rumoured that the company in 2014 smartphones will include the technology Rezence.

Wireless charging is not a new phenomenon; under the more electric toothbrushes have been working with the same principle as Qi. The intent of the standard is that wireless chargers, just as wired chargers, for devices of various brands will work. There are currently several standards that are fighting to become dominant on the market. Companies like Samsung, LG and HTC are members of several such alliances.
