From January 1, can on Windows, only Chrome extensions are ge lwa installed from the Chrome Web Store; installing the extension manually to add, from that moment on, is no longer possible. According to Google, that is necessary because of the security.

The restriction only applies to users that from that date an extension wants to install: for existing users that extensions from outside the Chrome Web Store use, nothing changes, says Google. The amendment applies for the Windows versions of Chrome; on OS X, and Linux changes nothing.

According to Google, the change is meant to protect users, because some software inadvertently extensions would install in the Chrome browser. “That is a common complaint of Windows users”, claims Google. So hijack extensions in the home page.

Nevertheless, get Google, intended or unintended, a much larger power over what extensions do and what not to allow. On Android, Google has previously Adblock Plus removed, because the extension of the rules would be violated. If Google – which is itself very dependent on ads – there in the Chrome Web Store for choosing, then there is no official way in which such extensions have yet to install. Additionally, you must have five dollars to be paid to an application to register.

An application from the Chrome Web Store was removed due to violation of the rules, is Mediahint, a extension that is often used for the work of the regiorestricties of Netflix. On Twitter, writes the author of that extension that he is going to try to the extension of restrictions to work around, because the application from 1 January officially no longer install on Windows.
