Cyanogenmod introduces the graphical installer for custom rom

Cyanogenmod has a graphical installer for custom roms posted online. The installer should inexperienced users a simple way to Cyanogenmod install. That should be the number of users on the duration increase.

The user has a compatible phone, a pc with Windows Vista or later on which the user is allowed to download software and a usb cable, says Cyanogenmod. The user starts to install an app from the Play Store, the user step-by-step guide. The install of the custom rom means that all data of the device will be erased, so the installer recommends to make a backup. The Windows application is a download of around 2MB and takes care of the installation of the recovery and the rom itself.

The list of compatible devices is not very long. A lot of Nexus devices are supported, but the Nexus 5 does not. Some of the more expensive Samsung models are on the list, except for the newer Note 3. Also the HTC One is compatible, but devices of other brands such as Sony, LG and Huawei are missing.

CyanogenMod has now according to the stats around nine million users. Those are a lot of users with a device from the Galaxy S series. In addition, there are many users of older devices such as the Motorola Defy+, HTC HD2 and HTC Desire that CyanogenMod use.
