Microsoft would to the own staff, as a trial have shown a service much like Sony’s Gaikai. During the demonstration, was Halo 4 streamed to a Windows Phone and a cheap pc. On both devices the game smoothly rotated.

The Verge heard from attendees that Microsoft was demonstrating a Lumia 520 used and that the delay in the streaming of Halo 4 to the telephone is limited and managed to keep up to 45ms. For the control of the game had the consolebouwer through a coupling with a Xbox controller connected to the phone. For streaming to a pc was a cheap, not further specified pc will be used. Microsoft has released the service yet no name is given, and it would also still only in the testing phase.

Microsoft hopes the service can be used to backwards compatibility to play older games on the Xbox One, the console that later this year on the market. At the announcement of the new console did Microsoft already know that the cloud service wishes to apply, based on Windows Azure. Partly for that reason, Microsoft at the announcement to know that the console permanently connected to the internet. That requirement, Microsoft has now, however, let it fall.

The service, which Microsoft demonstrated looks like an answer to Gaikai, the streaming service that Sony over a year ago took over. Sony wants the technology of Gaikai mainly use for games to stream to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, though the company also indicated that it is through Gaikai games want to stream to other devices from Sony and devices of other manufacturers. Sony hopes in 2014 to be able to start streaming games to both own consoles.
