Microsoft is reportedly planning a new data center to build at an industrial area in North-Holland. There would be an amount of two billion euro are involved with the project and the possibilities for a ‘green’ data center would be the reason given.

The plan of Microsoft is in documents where the Noordhollands Dagblad the hand has managed to establish. It covers almost 40 acres of land that the softwareconcern at the business park Agriport A7 in Middenmeer wants to buy. The choice for this area would be motivated by the possibilities of a green data center.

According to the Dutch newspaper, several regions in various countries have tried the contract with Microsoft in the prizes, but would be the choice at Agriport are cases. At this industrial site along the A7 motorway there are possibilities for electricity that is generated in groentekassen to use for the power supply, and while as a backup, a direct connection to the high-voltage grid, Tennet is present. The kassenkwekers, united Energy Combination Wieringermeer, use a heat-power link-installation for the heating of the greenhouse and generate electricity. Since not all generated electricity for the greenhouses itself is required, is a part of data centers delivered. Conversely datacenters, their provide heat to the greenhouses, so the growers can benefit from lower heating costs.

The permits for the construction would still not be circular and also could Microsoft and the local authorities have no publicity to the project.
