Amazon web store has begun delivering Google’s Chromecast in the Netherlands. Until Monday, it was the Chromecast not officially available in the Netherlands; import revealed, via the European sites of Amazon much more expensive.
The Chromecast is a small device, slightly larger than a usb stick, that is has a hdmi plug and a usb input. The device should an hdmi port, with the power supplied by a usb cable in the back of the Chromecast pricked. The dongle runs on a simplified version of ChromeOS and uses wi-fi to connect to a home network.
Users can then from their smartphone, tablet or laptop media control, but technically, is there anything streamed from the phone to the Chromecast. If, for example, via a telephone, a Youtube video on the Chromecast is started, the Chromecast itself connects with Youtube to stream the video. There is no video signal from the phone to the Chromecast sent, as for example in the Airplay of Apple.
Video services do not work automatically on the Chromecast, but video services to build support. In the Netherlands consider Missed the Broadcast of the NPO and RTL XL to do that, as it turned out earlier.
Update, Wednesday 16:03: Meanwhile Amazon again stopped taking orders for the Chromecast from the Netherlands. The Tuesday orders placed seem to be sent.
