Vodafone begins rolling out 4g in the randstad and increases 3g speed – update

Vodafone has in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag and Utrecht are lte network enabled. In addition, the carrier indicated that the speed of its current 3g network via dual carrier-hsdpa+ will increase to at least 7.2 Mbit/s.

Customers who have a new Red-subscription, at Vodafone directly with a suitable device to use the lte network. Existing Red customers this month admitted. For its 4g network Vodafone is using the 800MHz and 1800MHz-frequentieblokken. The 800MHz band offers great coverage, while the 1800MHz frequencies in densely populated areas, higher throughput is possible. It would theoretical download speeds of up to 50Mbit/s are obtained. In practice, this comes down to 10 to 15Mbit/s.

According to Vodafone to get Red and Red Essential subscribers a 4g download speed of 30Mbit/s and an upload of 15Mbit/s, while the Red Super-subscription speeds of, respectively, 50Mbit/s and 25Mbit/s. Further, Vodafone Tweakers know that it is with Apple’s works for the iPhone 5 to get on its lte network. The iPhone 5 will be limited frequentieondersteuning only going to work in crowded areas.

Vodafone let it know that the existing 3g network upgrade using dual carrier-hsdpa+technology. There is the provider already in February began. By the dual carrier technology to speeds of at least 7.2 Mbit/s are possible. Prepaid customers from 1 september to make use of the higher 3g speeds. The dual carrier technology offers a theoretical maximum speed of 42Mbit/s.
