T-Mobile comes with free web storage for customers – update

T-Mobile offers from september 9, private webopslagdienst. This competitor for Dropbox offers 5GB of space and at a fee of a few euros per month, users can have more room.

The app for the so-called T-Mobile Cloud-works on iPhone and Android; apps for Windows Phone and BlackBerry 10 follow possible later. The service is also from the browser to access it. Users get 5GB of storage, while for a fee that that space can be expanded. Users can according to the service provider that space to save files and share them with other devices or other users: that may also be customers of other providers.

The paid version with 25GB of storage space will cost 2,99 euro per month, for 50GB should 5,99 euro to be paid for 8,99 euros the user gets 100GB. The service must comply with according to the provider of the ‘highest Dutch privacystandaarden’, but what T-Mobile that exactly means is still unclear.

T-Mobile is the last of the three large mobile providers that with a private webopslagdienst: KPN and Vodafone have already longer. It is unclear how many customers make use of the webopslagdiensten of the mobile providers.

Update, 10:28: T-Mobile says to Tweakers that the service meets the ‘highest privacystandaarden’, because it complies with the standard ISO27001 for data security. In addition, the servers of T-Mobile Cloud, in the Netherlands, which foreign intelligence services do not have the ability to provide data of customers to requirements, such as American services.
