Google announces new Nexus 7 with higher resolution and faster soc

Google has a new version of its Nexus 7 tablet announced. The new tablet has a screen resolution of 1920×1200 pixels, and it is from the end of this month in America available for 229 dollars. About a possible release in the Netherlands is at this moment still nothing is known.

The announcement of the new Nexus 7 does not come as a surprise: over the past week, several photos, videos, and benchmark results to the outside. The tablet is once again made by Asus and is a bit smaller than the old: it is 6mm narrower, 2mm thinner and 50 grams lighter. The back with minor pitting of the old model has been swapped for a matte, smooth, black back, which is a bit like the back of the Nexus 10.

The tablet also features stereo speakers on the back and the micro usb port is compatible with the SlimPort standard, which the this via a special cable can be used to video signals to send out. Also new compared to the first Nexus 7 is the presence of a 5-megapixel camera on the back of the tablet.

The 7″display has a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels and soc, Google and Asus opted for the Snapdragon S4 Pro from Qualcomm, 1.5 GHz, coupled with 2GB of ram. This makes the new Nexus 7 at a technical level, a huge upgrade compared to the old, which had a resolution of 1280×800 pixels, a Tegra 3 soc from Nvidia and 1GB ram.

Despite the more powerful hardware claims to Google that the battery life has improved compared to the first Nexus 7. When you play a video the tablet is the nine hours of hold out and with web-browsing and e-reading would be the battery life of ten hours. That is the same for both situations an hour more than the first Nexus 7.

The new Nexus 7 runs on Android 4.3, at the same time with the tablet was announced, and on 30 July in the us. Google comes with both a 16GB as a 32GB model, respectively 229 and 269 dollars. There will also be a lte variant of the 32GB model, which will be 349 dollars is going to cost you.

When the new Nexus 7 comes to the Netherlands is not yet known: Google says that the tablet in as many countries as possible would like to bring, but for the Netherlands, which currently have no planning. The previous Nexus 7 also came out in the summer, the Dutch release came when in september.
