Rumor: Microsoft comes with Surface RT tablet with Snapdragon 800-soc

Microsoft will soon release a new version of its Surface RT tablet. It would be the Nvidia Tegra 3 in the tablet swapped for a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. The tablet will be the name Surface RT 8.1.

The move to Qualcomm is probably only intended for a variant of the Surface RT with support for 3g and 4g, reports news agency Bloomberg. Nvidia continues according to one of their sources or supplier of socs for the tablet. Because the difference in graphical power between the Tegra 3 and Snapdragon 800 is large, according to benchmarks, the gpu of the Snapdragon 800 is ten times as powerful as the Tegra 3, it is possible that a new version of the Surface a Tegra 4 built-in.

The name of the Surface RT 8.1 seems to indicate that the tablet at the same time should come with the update of Windows RT and 8 in this autumn. Other factors also indicate, such as the promotion of Microsoft for Dutch students with a tablet for half the price, can buy if they will for september.

The Surface RT is Microsoft’s own tablet, and one of the few tablets running Windows RT which have been published in the Netherlands. The device came in October in the stores in several countries, but the release in the Netherlands took place in February.
