Working Apple I brings on auction more than half a million euros

At an auction in Cologne, is a more than thirty-year-old but still-working Apple I sold for 516.461 euro. It is going to be a new record. The buyer, who wishes to remain anonymous, would come from Asia lwa.

The Apple I is one of the first pc’s that was equipped with a combination of a keyboard, a cpu and a video output. The computers were in 1976 designed and with a soldering iron assembled by co-founder of Apple Steve Wozniak, while a lot of systems back then were delivered as kits assembly that requires bolting. Wozniak decided to work together with Steve Jobs the Apple I features a 1MHz 6502 cpu and 4KB of ram, for an amount of 666,66 dollar to sell.

In total, there are only a small two hundred pieces produced, of which an estimated six systems actually function. In november 2010, at auction in London, an amount of 157.000 euro paid for an Apple I, while a similar system last year under the hammer went for 296.000 euros.

Saturday there is, however, by an unknown bidder from Asia in the amount of 516.461 euro paid for an Apple I. The auction system contains the computer to the original monitor, a cassette player and documentation with the signature of Steve Jobs. That happened at an auction in the German city of Cologne at Auction Team Breaker. At this veilighuis was in november 2012, even though an Apple I under the hammer gone for almost 5 tonnes.
