Samsung is working on a successor to lte, which is the transfer of ‘tens of gigabits per second, much faster than 4g. The new network technology should be available by 2020, promises to be the South Korean company.

Samsung claims that the technology download speeds of ‘tens of gigabits’, writes the South Korean news agency Yonhap. That is a lot faster than lte, the technology that is typically used for 4g connections. Lte offers a maximum speed of 100Mbps. Lte Advanced, an addition to lte, makes connections of 1Gbps are possible.

The South Korean conglomerate has tested its technology in the 28GHz spectrum; that is a much higher frequency than the frequencies where 4g operates. When that test was only the speed of 1Gbps reached. It is unclear whether the technology at lower frequencies as well working. Higher frequencies have the disadvantage that signals are less easily by objects passing. Samsung wants to be the technology by 2020.
