Rotterdam company announces underwater mmog with vr-headset-support

The Rotterdam-based company Vertigo Games is developing an online multiplayer game in which players can enjoy scuba diving. For the divers the feeling, however, underwater to go, builds the company’s support for the vr goggles Oculus Rift.

“If I have a game to play I really want to be part of a world, with devices like the Occulus Rift can do that,” says Richard Stitselaar, creative director at Vertigo Games. This Rotterdam gamebedrijf originated from Coded Illusions and was previously responsible for Adam’s Venture. Stitselaar is avid diver and knew his enthusiasm on the team at Vertigo Games.

World of Diving will need players among other things make diving in places that are so true to nature as possible are shown and also visit wrecks such as sunken submarines should be possible. Players can have their character adapt and meet up with friends in a team to diving. They can also special treasures and animal species to collect.

To make the experience more realistic, making Vertigo support for the Oculus Rift build. This is the virtual reality head-mounted display that is supported among others by gamegrootheden as John Carmack, Gabe Newell, and Tim Sweeney.

World of Diving is still in the prototype stage. The company hopes $ 75,000 to get the development through crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.
