Defense MegaUpload gets access to documentary evidence

The New Zealand judge has ruled that the defense of the employees of MegaUpload has the right to evidence in the case to see. Moreover, it must be seized equipment that no evidence is to be returned.

The defense of the MegaUpload employees, including Kim Dotcom, and the Dutch developer Bram van der Kolk, tried for a long time to get access to the evidence, but until now, caught the lawyers bone. The New Zealand judge has now ruled that relevant material should be copied and placed in the MegaUpload-suspects must be handed over, reports Reuters news agency. They will have equipment that is not relevant to the lawsuit back.

Dotcom and his lawyers argued that they were disadvantaged as they were not allowed to see what evidence the New Zealand authorities in the case. The administrators of the former filesharingsite have now indeed gained access to the evidence that in New Zealand is collected, but still have no access to other evidence which the United States of america. The United States want that Dotcom, Van der Kolk and two other MegaUpload employees to be extradited. Earlier this month, the New Zealand court that MegaUpload on appeal is allowed against the decision of the court that the United States has no evidence had to hand over. Earlier judgments of New Zealand courts already that in the case the necessary errors have been made, including in the invasion of the villa of Dotcom.
