Asus VivoPC with ViviMouse in the living room to see

Asus has its latest mini-desktop with the supplied remote during his perconferentie at Computex announced. The VivoPC should users the hard drive and the memory is easily upgraded.

The VivoPC is intended primarily as a media center and pc for under the tv. In place of a wireless mouse and keyboard can the VivoPC with the specially designed VivoMouse be operated. The mouse can be used as a conventional optical mouse can be used, but has in addition a circular touch pad that the thumb can be operated when the VivoMouse as a remote control is used. The touchpad supports multitouch and is suitable for Windows 8 gestures. The VivoMouse communicates with the VivoPC or other computer via wireless rf technology.

The VivoPC seems like a competitor to a Mac Mini, or Intel’s RACK designed, but has as extra’s include SonicMaster technology on board audio output to external speakers via audiojacks or an optical connection. To play media from a central pc wireless streaming is the VivoPC 802.11 ac-wi-fi is provided, but internally, there is also space available for a large 3,5″hard disk. Both the hard drive, or ssd, as the memory are easily accessible for upgrades and maintenance. The pc is equipped with an unspecified Intel Core processor with integrated gpu. Furthermore, four usb ports, two usb 3.0 ports, an hdmi and vga output and a network port.

The VivoPC is equipped with a brushed steel-look and is 190 by 190 millimeters in size with a height of 56 millimeters. Prices and availability made Asus not yet known. Asus sees the Vivo line like combined with its new RT-AC68U router which is wi-fi based on the 802.11 ac standard.
