New AMD-division is chips on the order

AMD has announced socs to measure. The manufacturer wants the socs modular building, so that customers can tune in to the device that they build. The apus for the PlayStation 4 are the first that according to the wishes of the customer are designed.

AMD wants, so no new chips to measure, but existing using building blocks to new soc’s to develop. It is therefore called the company, the responsible department, the semi-custom business unit. The business unit will focus on a broad market; including gaming, set-top boxes, smart tvs, pcs, tablets and servers.

The first big customer that are semi-custom processors from AMD decreases, it is Sony, that apu’s used for the PlayStation 4. The apus in the PlayStation 4 have, for example, about eight Jaguar cores, which are combined with a gpu that is much like AMD’s Radeon HD7850. Also Microsoft would AMD have we for tailor-made hardware for the new Xbox.
