The market researcher thinks that the prices for Chinese solar panels this month, with a 1 percent increase. The coming months would the price increase again to around 4 percent. In may, expects IHS that the price per delivered Watt will come in at 53 cents, 6 percent higher than the price in march.

According to the market researchers there are several reasons why the Chinese panels after a yearlong free fall in price. Thus, there are likely to be European duties on solar panels made in China are produced. This threatens Chinese companies to will pull out of the European market or less to deliver. In addition, the demand for solar panels from Asia have grown and the production of panels has decreased, partly due to the bankruptcy of Suntech and the lack of Chinese government support.

IHS qualifies the rise in prices as a healthy correction between supply and demand. The prices for solar panels have for many years been with dozens of percents decreased, mainly due to Chinese overproduction. According to among other European companies and politicians and sold to the Chinese companies, these panels are far below the cost price. The price reductions were, however, result in the popularity of solar energy in general and solar modules in particular to both businesses and consumers has increased, especially since the so-called payback period considerably reduced.
