First Geeksphone devices with Firefox OS starting next week to order

The company Geeksphone has announced that from next week, two smartphones are going to sell that on Firefox OS to run. The simplest model, the Keon is equipped with a singlecore 1GHz soc, while the Peak-smartphone a dual-core processor.

The Keon, is the entry-level model, Geeksphone a Qualcomm S1 Cortex A5 soc. This singlecore processor has a clock speed of 1GHz. The ram is 512MB, while the available storage capacity of 4GB. This can further be extended with microsd cards. The touchscreen has a beelddiameter of 3.5″ and a resolution of 480×320 pixels. Furthermore, the Keon about a 1580mAh battery, 802.11 n-wi-fi and gps. The unit has a price of 91 euros and from next week available.

Geeksphone, the Peak is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, a dualcore soc with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz. The memory and storage capacity is equal to the Keon, while the smartphone is a 1800mAh battery. The 4.3″touchscreen is an ips panel of 960×540 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:9. The 8-megapixel camera can take pictures at up to eight megapixels. There is also a front camera present. Geeksphone calls a price of 149 euros for the Peak.

The two phones, which in January have already been announced, are primarily intended for developers with Firefox OS want to get started. This mobile operating system from Mozilla is based entirely on the running html5 applications. Mozilla hopes together with phone manufacturers and telecom markets cheap smartphones can offer, which is aimed at prices around 100 euros.
